How To Add Menu Bar in WordPress

Most WordPress themes come with one or more places or locations that a menu can be displayed.  In this article, I will be using the WordPress Twenty Seventeen theme for the examples.  Your theme may have additional menu locations and menu options.

However, the basic menus covered here should apply in most cases.  Check your theme documentation for more information.

In most cases when a new WordPress website is installed, there will be no menu displayed in the theme.  This is the case with the WordPress Twenty Seventeen theme.

There are two main steps for creating a menu in WordPress.

  1. Create the menu and add menu items to the menu.
  2. Choose a location on your WordPress to display the menu.
